bio

Cape Town based punk/metal outfit The Doppler Effect, have been destroying the stages of the Western Cape and abroad since 2003. The heart stopping guitar melodies, combined with fast double bass drumming, ghostly harmonies, and punk-style elements entangled into the music, all culminate into a beautiful and powerful concoction of South African passion.

Apart from the success of their first self-titled EP in 2005, The Doppler Effect been playlisted on South African and German radio stations, as well as featuring on two international music compilations distributed in Europe, and today their musical chemistry and aptitude is still as unquestionable as ever.

The Doppler Effect have found themselves standing courteously looking in for the best part of four years now, whilst managing to ensure their growth within the local scene remains rapid.

The Doppler Effect - Self-Titled EP (2005)

This band, for me, is one of those bands where the passion and commitment shine through 110 percent. They play a uniquely heavy and technical brand of hardcore punk that has captivated Cape Town ever since their inception several years ago. After having gone through several line-up changes, they are now at what I believe to be their prime.

This debut self-titled EP expresses everything that is The Doppler Effect: passion, commitment and a damn good party.

I've always thought of The Doppler Effect as one of the more attentive and mature bands. They put a lot of attention to detail in their work which is clearly shown on this album. The cover art, along with the tracks themselves, have a very mature, somewhat romantic-esque feel about them.

TRACKLIST:
----------------
01. Intro
02. Bittersweet Heart
03. My Very Own Fairytale Tragedy
04. Skullface
05. Orchestra Of Death

I must say that this album captivated me from the cover all the way through to the secret track at the end which I thoroughly enjoyed. The artwork and printing are absolutely impecable and the recording and production are of a top class level.

I find this album to be a lot about the passion of the listener as well. There are many bits that are very melodic and passionate which allows for the listener's emotions and feelings to take over and to really become a part of the music...that, in essence, is The Doppler Effect.

If you haven't yet picked up a copy of this album, I strongly recommend that you do as it's well worth the buy.
